Bird Tracks: From Albatros to the Siskin Treasures from the Naturkundemuseum Leipzig

Birds play an important role in cultures worldwide. They serve as mystic animals, but they also supply meat, feather and bones. For long, they have been worshiped as ancestors and kept as prestigious pets. They are heroes in numerous fairy tales and are depicted in many works of art. In the exhibitions of the Völkerkundemuseum all these aspects are to be discovered. Bird tracks from Australia, colourful headdresses of Amazonian Indians or Siberian coats made of duck feathers give examples.

The special exhibition shows birds from all over the world that are especially interesting. Objects from the collections of the Naturkundemuseum Leipzig presented alongside ethnographic pieces build a bridge between human and nature.
