behind the scenes

Hundreds of thousands of objects from all over the world are preserved, treated, researched and exhibited in the museum by numerous curators, scientists, conservators, archivists, collection managers and exhibition designers. They collect, transport, store, arrange, inventory, name, catalogue, research, pack, clean, disinfect, repair, photograph and digitize objects. In this room, we take a close look at all these activities and the actual museum practice and thus take a look behind the scenes of an ethnological museum in Saxony in 2018. How does a museum change the status of things and how do museum actors determine the way an object is perceived?
